Client: Hogstone’s Wood Oven
Art Direction: Jared Blackinton
Hogstone’s Wood Oven is no ordinary restaurant. Nor is it your run of the mill fancy bandwagon jumper. Of which there are many that source well and make good food and all that fluff. But Hogstone, that ain’t they.
Jared Blackinton and John Steward run Maple Rock Farm on Orcas Island in the San Juans. They’re pretty serious movers and shakers those guys. A few years back, they acted on an inkling of an idea to add more value to their produce, whereby they started making pizzas on the farm. Over the next few years and manifold permutations on the pizzas and ovens in of which they cook, in late 2012 they secured a brick and mortar space in downtown Eastsound. There stands the Hogstone’s Wood Oven of today.
These guys are the real deal. Farmers first. They are impassioned, hard-working, foul-mouthed, ambitious, deeply spiritual, strong-willed, stubborn, love-filled pizza farmers.
